Four Parthian / Sassanian Leaded Bronze Handles
Ancient Near East / Central Asia, Parthian or Sassanian (Sasanian / Sasanid) Empire, ca. 1st to 7th century CE. A fine group of four leaded-bronze handles, cast for attached to a hefty vessel. All are designed with broad, hooked terminal tips and a thick handle with ridges and a protruding tab at the center. The faces are incised with V shaped lines and dotted stippling. The handles are slightly curved in profile, and they were probably attached to the sides of a spherical body or rim on a cauldron or large pot. Size: 7" L x 1" W x 3.5" H (17.8 cm x 2.5 cm x 8.9 cm)

Condition Report: Traces of modern adhesive from mounting on the verso of all. Surface pitting and small cavities, but all are intact. Rich green and red patina.
