Framed Boston Images (16) -Soldier
Framed group of sixteen ninth plate images, the majority of which appear to be ambrotypes. A note on the reverse states that they were framed in Boston, perhaps as early as 1868 if the newspaper backing is any indication.
The top right image has a patriotic mat and depicts a Union soldier. His epaulettes indicate the shot was likely taken early in the war. The subject is armed with a rifle and has insignia on his headgear.
Unusual and desirable example of an untouched group of framed images.
[Civil War, Union, Confederate, Antique Photography, Dauerreotype, Ambrotype, Tintype, CDV, Albumen]
