Framed Chinese Embroidered Textile of Temple Lions or
Chinese silk embroidery depicting foo dogs or temple lions with applied eyes and lingzhi with flowers rendered in gold and blue metallic threads, enclosed within an embroidered border, all sewn onto a red silk backing. Float mounted and under glass in a giltwood frame. Textile: 18 1/4" H x 29 1/2" W. Framed: 26 1/2" H x 37 1/2" W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
Condition Report: Overall good condition with fading, scattered areas of fraying, largest 2 1/2" x 1/4", to red silk backing. Not examined outside of frame. This textile was professionally restored by the Textile Conservation Services, Indianapolis, IN in 1998, please refer to the photographs for full details.
