Framed Engraved Map of Ancient Roman Empire - 1763

Cartographer: Louis Brion de la Tour (French, 1743-1810). Title: "Rome Empire Old Map Suite De L'Histoire De Rome la Tour" 1763. A copperplate engraving with hand coloring and a text explaining the history of the image. A historic map of Ancient Rome during the Copper Age created by French geographer and demographer Louis Brion de la Tour whose official title was "Geographer Engineer of the King." De la Tour collaborated with Louis Charles Desnos (ca. 1750-1790) who was a bookseller as well as a geographical engineer for globes and spheres for His Majesty Danish. This map originated in "Atlas Methodique et Elementaire de Geographie et l'Histoire …" by Claude Buy de Mornas. A wonderful antique map, nicely framed. Size: 27.5" W x 21.25" H (69.8 cm x 54 cm); 34.75" W x 28.25" H (88.3 cm x 71.8 cm) framed
