Framed Pachacamac Textile Strap Fragments w/ Birds

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Pachacamac culture, ca. 1000 CE. A fine gathering of eight textile strap/sash fragments, each composed of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of brown, red, black, yellow, and white, and each mounted against an ancient rectangular panel with a light-brown color. Three strips have similar artistic presentations with large-eyed owl figures boasting rhombus-shaped bodies, each surrounded with smaller avian figures. Two strips have abstract avian figures, two have dense geometric motifs, and one contains dozens of abstract fish-form creatures. Mounted on a fabric-lined mat within a frame. Size (textile): 5.875" W x 11.9" H (14.9 cm x 30.2 cm); size (frame): 13.125" W x 19.375" H (33.3 cm x 49.2 cm).
