interesting pair (*2) of officer's pistols, regulatory model 1816 - formerly flintlocks and modified percussion locks - caliber 17. 1mm - signed and hallmarked by the Manufacture Royale de Maubeuge (year 1823) . For both: functional mechanics with 2 well-synchronized positions and heavy percussion main markings and hallmarks: - on plates: Manufacture Royale de Maubeuge & hallmark "C" by Jean-Nicaise Compas (Maubeuge 1816 / 1824) - attenuated but still legible - on barrel: MR M 1823 (almost completely erased on 1 of the barrels) & hallmark "B" of Lieutenant-Colonel Bergier (Maubeuge 1818 / 1823) on the top of each of the barrels - all trim punched - beautiful semi-checkered walnut frames for the 2, oiled-waxed (not varnished) with traces and stains of use, but solid and remained in good condition. - brass fittings (beautiful copper color) - barrels polished white with traces of old corrosion, but remained solid and in fairly good condition - the percussion transformation is a civilian modification from the 1840s - the 2 rods are not type 1816, but type 1822 T (without punches and may be later) - 1 of the hammers has obviously been the subject of an old replacement (not strictly identical to the other and with a shorter half-arm position - but the lock is functional with good percussion and good synchronization) weapons which will be 200 years old next year, of very beautiful design, solid, in their patina, with signs, stains and scratches of handling and time, old traces of corrosion, small shocks, but remained in a good state of conservation ( see photos forming part of the description) , and with functional mechanics.
