Superb & Rare letter sent from Rabastens de Bigorre for the French Consul in New Orleans with a number 24 in perfect condition!
Letters are infinitely rarer than the stamps they bear.
In fact, those that did not end up in the trash or in the fireplace have most of the time been destroyed over the last 170 years by collectors who wanted to recover the stamps!
Personally, I find that complete letters are infinitely more interesting than stamps alone because a letter often tells a story, a journey or a trip!
