Chassepot GRAS Rifle 1874 belonging to a cadet or student: Total length: 116 cm Barrel length: 71 cm Student rifle, a reduced copy of the Gras rifle, 1874 model. Shooting is reduced, shorter cartridge at 11 mm calibre. (11x51R) . Used under the third republic after the war of 1870, for the training of student battalions. Metal parts: no oxidation, still bronzed. Markings: on the butt, the number 13019, ‘COLOMB’ under the butt behind the trigger guard. Moving breech mechanism in good condition, complete and functional, tight locking. Round grooved barrel, very distinct rifling marks. Wood in good condition.
