Light cavalry sword, 1882 model - Châtellerault year 1885: Total length with sheath: 105 cm, blade length: 87 cm Period: France, 3rd Republic period Blade length of the 1882 model swords: - 95 cm for men-at-arms (1st size) , - 92. 5 cm for dragoons (2nd size) , - 87 cm for light cavalry (3rd size) . Troop model sword, three-pointed brass mount, numbered and hallmarked. A raised wood grip covered in shagreen and filagree. Straight blade, hallmarked, with fuller and flat back, signed ‘Mre d'Armes de Châtt. 9bre 1885 Cavrie Light Mle 1882’. The blade is sharpened. Steel sheath with a ring for the strap, painted black.
