France - BASIRE à Rouen - très grand, long et fin pistolet - Arme de luxe - Percussion - Precision or duel weapon - 12 mm

Extremely long and fine pistol for shooting or dueling signed by BASIRE in Rouen, around 1860. Very elegant, the weapon is of excellent quality. It has a direct fire screen without security, it is built to fire immediately, not to be loaded and transported awaiting possible use. The plate works perfectly. The trigger is very elaborate with a French stecher (push the trigger forward for a very soft start) . The stick is in finely carved blackened wood, the fittings are very finely engraved, the trigger guard is with finger rest. The barrel, in gray damask, is internally finely striped "in hair". In short, everything that characterizes a very luxury weapon. I have not succeeded in dismantling this weapon, I do not know its internal state, but we see that it was formerly mistreated by an amateur "restorer". The dog is vintage but not original. Sumptuous prestige weapon, fine, elegant, which works and presents well.
