France - full armor steel reiter of the 16th century, full size - 1910

[ translate ]

Very nice steel armour (not sheet iron) from the 16th century. The armour consists of the breastplate, the back, the two tassets, two arm protections and two very crafted gauntlets. The helmet is a Burgonet type with two articulated side ventails. The set is completely articulated as were the armours in that time and can be worn. It is hand-crafted from the early 20th century, aimed at furnishing a large house or castle. It was exhibited in the weapons room in a manor in the central region. This is a unique creation, made on special order by a wealthy homeowner. Very decorative and impressive, with a strong visual impact. The set is covered in a patina/light layer of rust which can easily be removed, but which in my opinion, should be preserved so as not to remove the stamp on the armour by making it too ‘flashy’. Cavalryman armour, rare, the old reproductions (and modern ones) are very often more imposing standing armours, so more complicated to display as they required a larger space/volume. The set is very heavy and weighs the weight of a real armour.
