\Artist: Francesco Noletti detto il Fieravino o il Maltese (1611 – 1654) (Bottega di)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 60_70_5. 7_cm
Oil painting on canvas from the workshop of the great Master Francesco Noletti, also called Francesco Fieravino known as the Maltese (Malta circa 1611 - Rome 1654) . The painting proposed for auction has characteristics typical of Maltese mid-century (17th century) painting, even the pictorial material leads back to his way of painting and mixing colors, making the carpets come out with the photographic fidelity of which he himself was great master of the century of enlightenment. Always erroneously identified with Francesco Fieravino, the biography and catalog of Francesco Noletti, otherwise nicknamed the Maltese, is due to Keith Sciberras. The artist of Maltese origins carried out his activity mainly in Rome, creating elegant still lifes. The Maltese benefited from an extraordinary success among collectors of the time, by virtue of an excellent creativity and the invention of singular posed natures in which oriental carpets, curtains, armor, fruits were assembled with a taste perfectly adhering to the Baroque ideal. . His style, exuberant and sumptuous, deeply influenced countless artists, such as Giovanni Domenico Valentini, Carlo Manieri and Antonio Tibaldi. Returning to our work, the excellent quality and elegance attest not only to the certain autograph at the workshop, but also the talent of Noletti during his high school diploma, in analogy with the still lifes kept in the Molinari Pradelli collection in Bologna and in the Musée Fesch in Ajaccio (Cfr. Sciberras 2005, fig. 12 and 15) , both datable to 1650. The work is in good condition, restored with reversible pictorial restoration. Small drops of color and stucco work resumed after a pictorial restoration. Relined work. The work is inserted in an important coeval wooden frame, carved and gilded. The frame is kindly offered as a gift, therefore we do not accept disputes, nor are we responsible for any damage during shipment. Canvas size: 36. 5 X 48. 5 cm.
