Exclusive and important unique work by Francis Cotes (London, 1726-1770) , hand signed by the artist on the front, upper right corner. In good condition, with various signs of time and aging on the pastel (see the photos, please) . The artwork is surrounded by a splendid wooden frame, dating back to the 19th century and decorated with gold leaf (in good condition) . Work difficult to photograph as it includes protective glass; the various photos were taken to show the details but do not do justice to the beauty of the painting. Reference bibliography: N. Trained with George Knapton, in 1767 he painted a portrait of Queen Charlotte with her daughter, which King George III in his bedroom at Buckingham House. In those years Cotes was one of the most sought after and fashionable pastel artists, so much so that he was nicknamed the 'Rosalba Carriera of England'. The work is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity of our gallery, with photos, dimensions, age and measurements. It comes from an important private collection and has already ben auctioned by at least one important auction house, including New York, Sotheby's, April 5, 1990, lot 341.
