Youngest son (1555–1583) of King Henry II of France and Catherine de' Medici, remembered for his courtship of Elizabeth I of England; he died of malaria at age 29. Rare vellum manuscript DS, in French, signed “Francoys,” one page, 14.75 x 11.75, August 13, 1583. Untranslated document signed at the conclusion by Francis, Duke of Anjou. The embossed white paper seal affixed to the left side remains intact. In very good condition, with overall wrinkling, scattered soiling, and a few repairs on the reverse.
