Frank Bennett Fiske (1883-1952) : Large Portrait of an red indian chief "Kicks the Iron", Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, South Dakota, USA, c. 1900 - printed later, 1983. Frank B. Fiske was a photographer, artist, and author, who lived most of his life at Fort Yates, North Dakota. He worked with the Sioux at Standing Rock Reservation in North and South Dakota for nearly 30 years; his work is rarely encountered. Gelatin silver print from original glass plate negative, c. 1900 - printed later, 1983. Size: 23. 2 x 18. 3 cm. Mounted to archival board (43 x 35. 6 cm) . With photographer´s facsililie signature stamp, printer´s stamp, signed in pencil by Clifford Skeller and editioned 107/300 on mount verso. The print is in an extremely fine condition with EXTRAORDINARY dark tones and only very small signs of use (see scans) .
