BIOGRAPHY:
German-born Frank C. von Hausen maintained a studio in Maine before he drove his Lincoln Phaeton to Palm Beach in the 1920s. A portraitist who studied at the Royal Academy in Vienna, he was best known for his work of Henry Morrison Flagler (posthumous, located in the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, Palm Beach).He also did portraits of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Edward and Eva Stotesbury, Albert Einstein, Addison Mizner (owned by the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, presently at the Boca Raton Historical Society), and other notables. Von Hausen recollected that Mizner was the hardest to paint because he wouldn't stop moving.
