Pristine partly-printed DS, one page, 8 x 12, December 22, 1931. As governor of New York, Franklin D. Roosevelt appoints Charles Irving Thompson as "1st Lieutenant, Infantry, New York National Guard." Signed nicely at the conclusion in fountain pen by Roosevelt, and countersigned by Adjutant General of New York Franklin W. Ward. The bright original gold foil seal remains affixed to the lower left. In fine condition, with small stains along the right edge.
