Franklin Pierce Autograph Letter Signed
ALS, one page both sides, 7.75 x 9.75, no date [Sunday morning]. Handwritten letter to his private White House secretary Sidney Webster, in full: "I have just read your note and am glad to perceive in it evident tokens of improvement in vigor and general health. I believe I mentioned in my last that the atmosphere here seemed to have undergone a decided and favorable change. We are all well now except Mrs. Pierce who has not fully recovered from the effects of her cold. I do not mean to interrupt the current of your enjoyment and therefore say nothing about politicks. I dread a result which is quite clear you apprehend. Repeat my kind regards to Mr. & Mrs. Riggs. Mr. Clement Hill and wife go to New York this week perhaps you may meet them there." In fine condition.
