MY LAND is a travel story without words, in which Masereel takes the "reader" in 100 woodcuts on a journey through Belgium in 1956, from his hometown of Blankenberge, through West and East Flanders, Hainaut, Brabant, Namur, Liège, Limburg, etc. via Antwerp and the Western Scheldt back to the coast. The woodcuts often contain a nod to notable events or an indictment of social abuses.
