From the expert opinion of PhDr. M.Sc. Michaela Zachař: "The painting under review was apparently created during wanderings in nature according to reality, and the painter dealt with a naturalistic conception of materials, terrain, vegetation in a well-perceived light mood. It is an early work from the spring of 1894, where Kaván already has a greater experience of plein air work and considerable self-assuredness in the expression, which already surpasses Chittussi. This is a collector's quality plein air from the Giant mountains wanderings, part of the former high-quality First Republic Hejn's collection from Poděbrady (no. 112)."
