Including a preface by D. Georg Heinrich Behrs. First edition 1739. Frontispiece, leather binding worn from time to time, slightly discolored, no loose pages, firmly connected. (See photos) Franz Balthasar von Lindern (1682-1755) was a Franco-German doctor and botanist. "Franz Balthasar von Lindern was one of eight children of a pharmacist. After attending grammar school in his hometown, he studied in Strasbourg from 1700, then in Halle (Saale) , Leipzig, Wittenberg, Erfurt and Jena. 1708 he wrote his doctoral thesis, two years later a thesis on bone diseases, then he returned to Strasbourg and taught botany, chemistry and pharmacology at the medical faculty. He became known through a book on sexually transmitted diseases (Der Venus-Spiegel) and a popular book on other common diseases (Medizinischer Passe-partout) . These works were not written in Latin, as was common among the medical professionals of the time, but in generally understandable German. They were therefore also in demand by the less educated population and appeared in several editions. " Will be well packaged and sent by registered mail.
