Black ink abstract on medium weight wove paper, untitled composition, signed* (Franz Kline, 1910-1962). 16 x 12 1/4 inches. Very good condition overall, having no apparent repairs. Removed from frame for inspection and shipping. Sold without frame.

Provenance: Originally from the collection of Ralph Reilly, Beverly Hills, CA. Acquired from Mr. Reilly by the consignor's father, circa 1970-80. Ralph Reilly was a prominent collector and dealer of antiques and fine art.

Lot Note: See Pierre Berge & Associes, Paris, June 25, 2014, Lot 6, for a work we sold in July 2013 from the Ralph Reilly collection. The work, a black and white ink drawing ascribed to Franz Kline, was subsequently sold to Marlborough Gallery and then at Pierre Berge for the sum of $68,025.]
