\Artist: Französische Schule des XVII.
-XVIII. Jahrhunderts
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 61_51_0_cm
French School from the end of the 17th, beginning of the 18th century. The Virgin Mary holds her sleeping, carefully wrapped baby in her arms. She is depicted in profile and looks with a look full of gentleness and love at her son, who sleeps peacefully in her arms, with her face partially bathed in shadows. Intimate treatment of the theme of the Virgin with the child, far from the classic frontal representations. Also noteworthy is the painter's decision to depict baby Jesus wrapped in diapers, an iconography rare for the time, clearly reminiscent of Renaissance painters, who often depicted babies frozen in their jerseys, or, more exceptionally, a painter such as Georges de la Tour (1593-1652) , whose baby Jesus’ are always depicted wrapped in diapers. The dark background reinforces the unity of this figure of motherly love. Oil on canvas. Framed The painting shows some signs of wear and light restoration work. The canvas was lined before. The painting is accompanied by a beautiful frame finely painted with golden tendrils, which is provided free of charge. Origin: Collection in southern France Careful packaging and secure shipping with tracking number.
