The lot presented in this auction consists of 6 chairs made of teak with woven imitation leather seat covering.

The design of the chairs is truly elegant and recalls 1950s Scandinavian production.

The conditions of use are good. In fact, the chairs, solid and robust, show only normal signs of use.

The straps that form the seat are intact and sturdy.

Studio Ti. Pi was opened by Piero Palange and Werther Toffoloni, and their collaboration lasted until 1975, until Mr. Palange's death. Both architects studied in Venice and carried on their business by collaborating with renowned industries. For Montina they created two chairs which were then nominated for the 12th edition of the Milan Triennale in 1960. Werther Toffoloni continued to work as Studio. Tipi and collect design awards until his death in 2017.

The Montina brothers: in a land tormented by the First World War, a land of burnt factories and stopped industries, three brothers founded the Montina company. Giovanni Battista, director, Pierceleste, sales manager and Erminio, production manager. The initial idea was to engage in the marketing of a production district on its knees but Montina soon changed from a commercial company to a product industry.

The Montina "chair factory" has its headquarters in Visinale del Judrio (Udine) , in an old mill. The force of the water moves rudimentary machines that also produce clothes hangers and toy hoops

Montina products are on sale in prestigious shops such as Rinascente in Milan, Jelmoli in Zurich, Innovation in Lausanne. They are chosen by important hotel groups, such as Ciga Hotels, and by prestigious hotels such as the Grand Hotel in Rome or the Danieli in Venice to furnish lounge areas, restaurant spaces and rooms. Montina supplies clothes racks to the International Sleeping Car Company.

The production site moves to Dolegnano: 4 thousand uncovered square meters and 800 covered meters constitute the center of creativity and marketing of Montina products

1938
The first international patents are registered: deckchair, coat hanger and camping cot are the first registered products.

1946
The Second World War left its marks on the territory, economy and people. The Montina brothers reopen the factory but of the 70 employees of the 1930s, there are now just over twenty.

The 958 chair and the Stile 900 collection are produced.

1956
The designers Palange and Toffoloni of the Ti. Pi studio begin designing for Montina.

1960
Participation in the XII Triennale di Milano and presentation of chairs designed by Palange, Toffoloni and Magistretti

1961
The Milan Furniture Fair is born. Silvano Montina is one of the 13 founders together with other very famous furniture entrepreneurs such as Franco Cassina and Angelo Molteni.

The team of designers expands with Tito Agnoli, Gio Ponti, Vico Magistretti, Cini Boeri, Giotto Stoppino, Silvio Coppola, Marcello Cuneo, Cralo Hauener and Carlo De Carli

Over time Montina gathered the interest of international designers such as Ilmari Tapiovara, Eero Aarnio, Haruki Miyagima and Bernd Makulik who created iconic pieces.

In 1987 the Masarotti family took over ownership. The legacy of the Montina family ends and the Masarotti family is committed, on the one hand, to re-editing products that have made the history of the company; on the other, it consolidates its presence at an international level. Among the supplies of this period are British Airways, important supplies to resorts and yachts
