Freedom to the Slaves Proclaimed January 1st 1863 by Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States
By Currier& Ives
Gorgeous copy of the famous Lincoln freeing slaves drawing with proper caption underneath. Produced to highlight his accomplishment in the 1864 election which he won handily. Displayed in log cabin designed frame with gilt inner frame that has a few chips (can be touched up) offset with cream mat. Lithograph is hand coloured and measures about 13 1/4 x 9 1/2". Politically incorrect motif of Black family begging Lincoln for freedom (kissing his hand like a monarch) rather than receiving Lincoln and country's gratitude for the major contribution of Blacks in winning the civil war.
