Freibergite on Pyrite Siete Suyos Mine, Chocaya-Animas, Atocha-Quechisla mining district, Sud Chichas Province, Potosí, Bolivia "A six inch "bridge" of shiny sharp octahedral pyrite crystals up to about 5mm with fairly sharp tetrahedral freibertite [sic] crystals up to an inch growing scattered on the pyrite." - Rock H. Currier Silver likes to combine with all sorts of other elements - Freibergite is a prime example of this kind of 'mineral miscegenation', combining Silver with: Copper, Iron, Antimony, Arsenic and Sulfur, all in one mineral. Like greed and megalomania, some things are always part of the picture (Silver and Sulfur) and some are variable depending on shadowy underground dynamics and shifting alliances: (Cu, Fe, Sb & As). Good Freibergites are about as rare as hen's teeth, or, good politicians, and they are consequently valued accordingly. These sharp, one-inch Freibergites are a wonderful sight as they dance on a field of bright, sparkling Pyrites. There is a custom labeled acrylic base. Overall Measurements: 6.5 x 3.5 x 2.6 inches (16.5 x 9.0 x 6.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: RHC #6830, acquired 2000 [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
