Freisa 1971, Giacomo Conterno
Freisa 1971, Giacomo Conterno
3,5 cm, soiled labels, 1 bt stained label
Private collection of a Piedmontese businessman
A lot that is certainly for enthusiasts of this almost-extinct grape variety in Piedmont and of the producer who was one of the most popular artists with this variety (the vines have now been uprooted to make way for Nebbiolo used for Barolo). The vintage shouldn't cause too much panic because Freisa is a close cousin of Nebbiolo, from which it inherited tannins and also the tendency to age rather well.
