A Very Good 19th century French Gilded Bronze mantel clock retailed by "Martin Baskett & Cie, Paris". 8-day time and strike movement with visible escapement, a two-part porcelain dial with Roman numerals over a lower calendar dial with outer month indicator and subsidiary day and date dials below a circular moon phase indicator aperture. Crisply chased Bronze case with a very good Gilded finish decorated with ribbon, foliate, fruit and floral motifs with inset hand-painted porcelain allegorical panels featuring cherubs representing the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter seasons all standing on squat gadrooned feet. Dial and movement both marked "Martin Baskett & Cie, Paris" with the serial number "4001" on the movement. Very slight wear to the Gilding, faint hairlines in dials, running when cataloged. 16 1/2" high. ESTIMATE $6,000-8,000
