French Samson / Chantilly Porcelain Box
In the form of a lady, who can be seen to be seated on a chamber pot when the box is turned around. Porcelain with ormolu mount. Red pseudo Chantilly mark to interior; probably Samson. Approx. 3 3/4" in height. Circa 1900. Provenance: From the estate of Dr. Milton T. Edgerton (1921 - 2018.) A trailblazing plastic surgeon, Dr. Edgerton joined the University of Virginia to found the Department of Plastic Surgery in 1970. He has been called an unsung hero, and "one of America's most daring and influential plastic surgeons."
