French School (XX) - Lévrier couché

[ translate ]

This beautiful drawing of relaxed greyhounds is up for auction.

The technique used is Indian ink with a pen and wash.

It was painted in 1979

This is the French School of the 19th century. XX

Iconography:

This work shows, in simplicity, a familiar scene that collects childhood memories, where animal lovers or those who have had the beautiful opportunity to raise one, can see themselves reflected.

Two greyhounds rest next to each other on a rug. The artist expresses his drawing quality through this precise detail. With just a few strokes, you can identify that the first dog is male and the second female.
Both direct their heads to an event unknown to the viewer, thus leaving an open composition, thus freeing the viewer to imagine the adjacent scene.

Indian ink is a complex technique if not mastered, since maintaining control of the pen requires both experience and technique.
The dogs are drawn with a pen and the rug is painted directly with a brush and gouache, a normal use in the technique to more easily darken a specific point of the work.

Frame included as a gift to the auction winner.

Frame Details: Black molding and navy blue mat.

From my private collection.

Professionally packed, insured and tracked worldwide shipping.
