French school (XIX) - Christ with the cross
A beautiful late 19th. C French School Oil Painting on Metal Panel depicting a Biblical Scene with Christ Carrying the Cross. The piece is depicted a good competent detail and retains good vibrant colours etc as shown.
This work formerly resided on the Wall of a Chapel isn’t Southern France and would likely have been one of a series representing the various “Stations of The Cross”.
The piece is being offered in generally good overall condition showing light age related surface imperfections and light areas of fade / Paint loss entirely as shown. Please study all images for an accurate report!
