Frie Onnaing - Barbotine Majolica - Plates (7)
This is rare find of French Barbotine majolica Asparagus & Shell plates. They were hand made in the Art Nouveau style, Frie Onnaing, circa 1890-1910. I got 6 deep plates and a serving dish with a shaped rim (Sienna glaze) and a scallop shell motif sauce well bordered by a curved spear. Overlapping bunches of asparagus in cream and green with purple tips meet the top and right sides of the plate. There are 3x2 pieces of identical plates. There is slight colour shades differences although they come from the same family collection.
