One of Friedrich Kraus' favorite models, the sitter in Woman in an interior also appears in Die Wochenstube as an elegant matron attending the birth of a baby. Condition Report: Unlined canvas with craquelure throughout; areas of tiny craquelure has resulted in in lifting and tiny paint flecks more visible to the right of the figure. Flecks of paint loss near the lower left and right corners. Faint Stretcher marks visible. Canvas slightly loose on stretcher, visible in raking light. In-paint on top of the varnish includes: 2-inch line in-painting above her right shoulder, 1.5-inch passage above her right, shoulder, and several 1.5-inch lines beneath her right hand. A discolored varnish makes it difficult to read the extent of restoration. Earlier restoration possible includes in-painting on the right side of her face, right shoulder, upper arm, and wrist with scattered areas around her chest.
