Frits Schlegel (b. Frederiksberg 1896, d. Ordrup 1965)

Unique, free-standing three seater mahogany sofa. Sides, back and loose seat cushions upholstered with black fabric. Designed approx. 1936–1937. Made to order by cabinetmaker Peter Petersen. H. 78 cm. L. 200 cm. D. 82 cm.

This unique sofa was commissioned by Ingeniør Axel Nielsen, co-owner of Larsen & Nielsen Ingeniør- og entreprenørforretning A/S, for use in his private home at Drosselvej 72 in Frederiksberg. His company had an extensive collaboration with Schlegel. In addition to some furniture, Schlegel also designed extensions to the house on Drosselvej on several occasions, just as Schlegel designed the cottage on Ordup Næs for Axel Nielsen.
This lot is subject to Artist's Royalty.
