A few marginal stains, but in all a clean, fresh copy. With the stamp on the title page of the library of Alexander Boswell (James Boswell's father) from his library at Auchinleck, with his signature on the front free endpaper, as well as the signature and book label of the collector J. L. Weir. Marginal notes in Greek throughout.

Books from the Boswell family library are quite uncommon on the market. The Malahide Papers of James Boswell were held at Auchinleck, the Boswell family estate, before they were removed after the author's death by Lord Talbot de Malahide.
