Ft. Sheridan McCormick Estate Artifacts

*** NOTE: Cases which these artifacts are pictured are available for local pickup, but will not be shipped unless specifically requested by the winner, as this will increase shipping *** A collection of artifacts collected over the course of many decades from around U.S. Army Fort Sheridan and the nearby McCormick-Rockefeller Estate near Lake Forest, Illinois. This eclectic collection includes coins, buttons, bones, stones, and other artifacts. Fort Sheridan was a U.S. Army base from 1887-1993, originally established to garrison troops near Chicago in the wake of the Haymarket Riot. The consigner grew up at the fort where his father served as an officer. The 200 acre lakefront McCormick-Rockefeller property was next to the fort, even coming under bombardment from the trainees during a 1922 exercise. The estate fell into disrepair and was abandoned over the 1940s into the 1960s before being demolished.
