Fuller Warren Cast Iron Parlor Stove

[ translate ]

This highly ornate Victorian cast iron parlor stove was manufactured by Fuller, Warren & Morrison in Troy, New York, featuring prominent cast markings for "J.C. Fletcher's Patent 1853" and "Floral Parlor No. 3". The Patent: The July 12, 1853 patent granted to J.C. Fletcher of Burlington, Vermont, represented an innovative design in radiant heating stoves. The prominent open-ring upper gallery was engineered not merely for dramatic Rococo Revival aesthetics, but to dramatically increase the exposed surface area of the heating flue, allowing maximum heat dissipation into Victorian parlor spaces. Designed with an extraordinary circular radiating upper framework adorned with scrolling foliage, shell motifs, and floral relief work, the unit retains its two small upper access doors designed to actuate internal dampening mechanisms, four detachable cabriole-style feet, and a vintage copper ash scoop with a turned wooden handle. Condition reveals significant structural breaks, including a vertical split extending down the rear base panel with a missing fragment, and a break along the lower front crest with the original discolored fragment present; surface shows general oxidation, surface rust, and age-appropriate patina. H 42", W 27.75", D 25”. Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.
