Trofei di Ottaviano Augusto. Trophy of Octavian Augusto. Very large etching showing one of a pair of Roman marble military trophies excavated from the nymphaeum of the Aqua Julia and set up on the terrace of the Campidoglio by Pope Sixtus V in 1590. Piranesi argued for an attribution to Augustus in commemoration of the Battle of Actium. Impression with number 3 in top right corner. Roman edition, before the three digits number of the Paris edition.

Condition: Very good impression on a very large sheet (85,00 x 59,00 cm)of laid paper with full plate border and wide margins. Central horizontal fold as issued. Bottom margin a bit wrinkeld. Some smooth ink smears upper right occured during printing. A few spots in the margins . Overall in good condition.
