Painted by Giuseppe Rossi following the artistic standards of the Italian Scuola of the 19th century. This type of still life was intended to show the sincerity and simplicity of the bourgeoisie who had the opportunity to dedicate their leisure time to activities such as hunting.
Acceptable state of conservation, the work presents severe cracking, despite this, it does not show chromatic defects and the cracking gives it period without damaging the essence of the still life.
ICONOGRAPHY:
The work is shown with a basic triangular composition, widely used in the 19th century. XIX with the intention of recovering the classical canons.
A young turkey with a blue neck and folded wings perches on the body of a hare stretched out on the ground.
The background of the work is neutral, and of cold tones, which contrast with the warm tones of the animals.
On the right side a plant appears behind the hare with the function of creating a stable and pleasant visual weight for the viewer.
