GABSZEWICZ ALEKSANDER: (1911-1983) Polish fighter pilot and flying ace of World War II. A.L.S., A. Gabszewicz, two pages, 4to, Hanley Swan, Worcester, 16th February 1975, to Mr. Francis. Gabszewicz states that it was kind of his correspondent to ask him to contribute to his museum and continues 'I am not shy at all, but I must be honest & say that my effort in B[attle] of B[ritain] was practically nil. It is true that I had a few operational flights at that time but they were quite uneventful. My ''career'', such as it was, really began after this period and was mostly over the seas and occupied territory. As you can see it is not shyness which prevents me from complying with your request - merely honesty'. VG
