Signed and dated (Boston 1881) in the lower right. Depicting a young woman reading next to a spinning wheel. Having a giltwood and gesso frame, H 50", W 36". From the Estate of Renate Gilmore, Brighton, Mich.
Condition: Craquelure throughout. Has been cleaned, remnants of varnish fluoresce under UV light. Overpainting to the sitter's left eye. Three small points of overpainting in the upper center. Small canvas puncture below the sitter's right hand. Flaking in the lower center where the canvas meets the frame.
