LATE 18TH CENTURY
the brass breakarch dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture to the silvered engraved centre mask, pierced brass spandrels, the arch set with a silvered signature roundel signed ‘Sherwood, Doncaster’ flanked by a pair of pierced rococo spandrels, the hood with turret top pediment topped with three ball and eagle finials, above a moulded breakarch, the dial flanked by Corinthian fluted columns with brass capitals, the trunk with breakarch door inlaid with a flame mahogany oval flanked by canted corners, on a plinth base with step moulding on bracket feet, all with boxwood stringing, the twin train movement striking a bell
