GEORGE ROGERS (1930 - 2002)
Sculptural Forms 9.

Color sculpturegraph, 1984. 610x457mm; 18x24x18 inches, full margins. Signed, titled, dated and numbered 4/10 in pencil, lower margin.

The term "sculpturegraph" was created by George Rogers to describe his 1984 series of hybrid prints. These colorful, abstract compositions are made from an accumulation of printed layers with differently shaped block matrices. In a variation of relief printmaking, Rogers used found materials and hand-cut geometric shapes, printing each in a single color. In many of them, overlays were applied to produce gradations of colors and enhanced images.
