GEORGIAN ENGLISH STERLING SILVER TEAPOT

GEORGIAN ENGLISH STERLING SILVER TEAPOT, plain ovoid-form well topped by a hinged lid with wooden finial, having a straight spout opposite a wooden handle with thumbrest. Impressed to base with "GS" maker's mark overstruck an "H...?" mark, possibly for George Smith II, and four hallmarks of a lion passant for sterling fineness, a crowned leopard's head city mark for London, a "q" date mark for 1791, and a King George III duty mark. Total weight including non-sterling components: 18.10 ozt. Circa 1791. 5 3/4" HOA.

Condition Report: Very good visual condition with minor wear, minor to moderate surface scratches, nicks, and scattered dents, likely repairs to spout at top of opening and at terminal of side, a possible repair to top terminal of handle at securing pin, wood finial and handle with several cracks including on thumbrest.
