GERMAN BRITANNIA METAL LARGE PRESENTATION COVERED CUP / POKAL, tall Gothic-style form, openwork well highly decorated with foliate motifs, beading, columns, masks, and fruit garlands, engraved "Joseph Uhl" to lower side, raised on a round foot with knopped stem, topped by a domed cover with presentation engraving around the edge that reads, "Compliments of the Board of Directors of the Music Hall and Loan Co.", including a later blue studio hand-blown glass hanging vase with rough pontil mark signed "R. Foster '92" used currently as a liner. Unmarked. Late 19th/early 20th century. 18 5/8" HOA, 4 1/2" D rim.
Catalogue Note: The Music Hall Building and Loan Co. was based in Cincinnati, OH, incorporated in August of 1884. In The Cincinnati Enquirer on September 8, 1895, there was an announcement that The Music Hall Building and Loan Co. elected Joseph Uhl as one of the directors. According to several annual reports by the Ohio Division/Bureau of Building and Loan Associations, it appears that Joseph Uhl served as president of the company from at least 1904 to 1924.

Condition Report: Very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, nicks, and minor/small dents, cover with a moderate dent top one side of finial edge, glass undamaged.
