GERMAN ILLUSTRATED GYMNASTICS GUIDES (2)
GERMAN ILLUSTRATED GYMNASTICS GUIDES (2)
Pair of rather graphic photo-illustrated German gymnastics guides, typical of the era displaying the Aryan ideal in physical beauty and training. The first is 'Gymnastik der Deutschen' by Hans Suren (Stuttgart: Frankh'sche Verlag), 1938. 128pp. 8vo., the second, also by Suren, is 'Kraft-gymnastik', by the same publisher, 1935. 176pp. 8vo. Both fine with lightly worn dust jackets. These volumes largely illustrate oiled male figures (a few females in modest attire as well) in 'g-strings' in various athletic poses and stances, also with shotputs, weights on bars, the hammer, etc. Overall very good.
