GERMAN METTLACH FRATERNAL / STUDENT CERAMIC STEIN, mold number 2051, having etched sides with scene of seven male students sitting around a table drinking and smoking, ceramic inset metal lid having a crescent moon with face thumblift and inscription of "GAUDEAMUS IGITUR JUVENES DUM SUMUS.", 1/2 liter size. Impressed "METTLACH / VB" and "GEGEN NACHBILDUNG / GESCHUTZT" marks to base with additional impressed numerals. Late 19th/early 20th century.
Condition: Undamaged with some gilding losses and lid having some wear.
Size: 8 1/2" HOA.
