GERMAN REPRODUCTION / MODERN CHARACTER CERAMIC STEINS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a "Herring" example by A.J. Thewalt having two cats among the fish, a pumpkin-like finial, and an arched-back cat thumblift, and a reproduction full-body figural owl example by Matthias Girmscheid. Herring with impressed "ORIGINAL THEWALT / 1072 / WESTERN GERMANY" mark to base, owl with impressed "740 / GERMANY" mark. Second half 20th century.
Condition: Each with minor wear; Herring with a minute flake to edge of outer foot, otherwise undamaged; owl with professional repair to lid around metal attachment, and a few minute glaze flakes to one ear.
Size: 8" and 8 5/8" HOA.
