GORDON HOPE GRANT
New York/California/United Kingdom, 1875-1962
"The Concarneau". Signed in pencil lower right "Gordon Grant".
Etching on paper, 8" x 10" sight. Framed 16" x 18".
Notes:
A gifted watercolorist, Gordon Grant is best remembered for his depictions of maritime scenes. Grant spent his childhood near the ocean, first in San Francisco and then in Fifeshire, Scotland, where he moved at age 12. The trip left an indelible mark on Grant, one which informed his work for a lifetime. After studying in London to be an artist, he enjoyed years of success as a commercial illustrator before turning his attention exclusively to painting in 1920. He deftly used watercolors to create nautical images, and he was lionized for his painting of the U.S.S. Constitution.

All items may have normal signs of age and wear commensurate with their age; these issues will likely not be mentioned in the condition report.
