GRAHAM LAND - UNIQUE(?) 43p CHILEAN RATE AIR MAIL COVER TO G.B. VIA F. IS. CO. AGENT "OFICINA DICK"; 13 Jan. 1945 env. (slight edge wear) sent by the Expedition's Leader, James W.S. Marr (in his handwriting) to his wife in Liphook with Chile 20p(2)+3p all tied to each other by "Pa. ARENAS/CHILE" bridge cds's with blue crayon lines and clearly sent by Air Mail. There is a very fine large purple oval "OFICINA DICK/COMISIONES/Y/REPRESENTACIONES/PUNTA ARENAS" FAC on the reverse. Clearly sent under cover or by private means by Marr to Chile and posted from there. Routed via New York etc. and having the London white "405" censor label over the US San Juan (P. Rico) brown censor tape. An exceptional genuine franking from Port Lockroy in Graham Land; believed to be the only such Chilean Airmail cover recorded from Tabarin.Cross Reference: AIR MAIL COVERS, FALKLAND ISLANDS DEPENDENCIES, CHILE, FORWARDING AGENTS
